Sometimes the most powerful way to achieve balance, harmony, and fulfillment is to notice when we’re not balanced or imbalanced, I should say. The more that I study masculine and feminine energy, this is a lens through which we can find places where we’re not balanced.

First, it’s essential to recognize both energies: It’s important to understand that both masculine and feminine energies are necessary for a healthy and fulfilling life. Masculine energy is associated with assertiveness, action, and logic, while feminine energy is associated with intuition, creativity, and nurturing. Balancing masculine and feminine energy is essential for achieving harmony and well-being.

So how do you know when you have an imbalance of energies? Some signs of leaning more towards the masculine energy and not balancing it out with the feminine are when you’re more agitated, aggressive, controlling, micromanaging, and competitive. If your feminine energy is imbalanced, you might feel helpless, powerless, needy, oversensitive, and even codependent. Therefore, it’s beneficial to see when you’re imbalanced and which energy you’re leaning more toward so that you can use that as a signal to enter into and practice the other energy type.

For example, let’s say that you’re feeling competitive at work. You’re overwhelmed by what other colleagues are doing, with your team members, and overall feeling frustrated. You can take a moment, lean back, and practice something more into the feminine energy to balance your feelings.

I have found that finding a perfect balance is not achievable, but at least being intentional about balancing these two energies gets you a lot closer to feeling more fulfilled, more harmonious, and happier. Sometimes, seeing where we’re imbalanced is the first step in balancing ourselves. And balance looks different for everybody, but looking at these two energies and seeing where we’re leaning too heavily can help us pull back and engage in the other energy to balance it.
